Meet Arnold Shuchat, B. Comm., MBA, LL.B. B.C.L.
Originally from Montreal, Quebec, Arnold Shuchat moved to Richmond, B.C. in the early ’90s. Licensed under the Real Estate Services Act since 2004, Arnold brings his years of experience as builder, tax and litigation lawyer and business owner to the benefit of his real estate clients.
An experienced real estate industry service provider once remarked, “Nobody ever went to university to study how to become a Realtor”. However, Arnold has dedicated his life to continuously learning. He holds a B.Comm., LL.B. and B.C.L. from McGill University and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. He has recently completed the Watson’s Governing With Intention Program and the Not For Profit Governance Course from the Institute of Corporate Directors which assists in his efforts as a Corporate Director with the not-for-profit Boards upon which he serves.
Arnold has been awarded the prestigious Realtors Care Award for community charitable work from the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver for two years (at the time, 4 Realtors out of some 9000 members).
More recently, Arnold volunteered to organize a community grass roots movement in Richmond to combat the noxious emissions from a regional composting operation. From a petition, to a Facebook page “Stop the Stink in Richmond” to 3 weeks of hearings and the Environmental Appeal Board, Arnold lead his group to a successful closing down the offensive operation and their work resulted in the highest fines ever procured in an environmental case in British Columbia.
Living by the concept that when two people meet, a third should benefit, Arnold is always open to new challenges which can benefit community endeavors.
When he is not working or spending time with his family, Arnold can be found at either a hockey arena as a goalie or player, or in a yoga studio recovering and preparing for another game. For the last 2 years, Arnold has been a Mentor for REACH Canada’s Venture Capital Program, working with startups and property technology companies (proptechs) seeking to establish their niche in Canada and beyond.
Most recently, Arnold has consulted with and supported ISTHEREENOUGH.ORG and ImpactLaunchpad.com with respect to its pre-seed capital financing and by working as an Ambassador for the organizations in their quest to rewrite the rules of capital and collateral procurement for social impact investing.
